James Frederick "Major" Keck was born on 23 February 1863 at Arkansas. He was the son of Frederick Russell Keck and Milly Driver. James Frederick (Major) Keck, age 82, died at the City hospital, Fayetteville, June 25, after several months of failing health and a hip injury which he suffered recently in a fall. Burial was made in the Witter Cemetery Wednesday, the service being conducted by Chas. L. McElhaney. A brother, Rev. D. N. Keck of Fayetteville, made a short talk which specially comforting to the relatives and friends present. Pallbearers were Virgil Moore, Orville Davis, Andrew McFee, Orville Moore, and John McElhaney. The arrangements were in charge of the Watson Funeral Home of Fayetteville.

The deceased was a native and lifelong resident of Madison county, Arkansas. He was converted at a Methodist meeting when a young man, united with that church and remained a member of same till the church ceased to hold services at Witter, when he became a member of the Christian Union Church and remained as such the remainder of his life.

Relatives surviving him are three daughters, Mrs. Margaret Moore of Fort Smith, Mrs. Ella Burgess of Huntsville and Louvina Shaw of Oklahoma City; one son, Sidney of Huntsville; the brother mentioned above and two sisters, Janie Frederick of Fayetteville and Carrie Wilson of Joplin, Mo.

James Frederick "Major" Keck of Huntsville, Arkansas, was born Feb. ~ 23, 1863, and died at the City Hospital, Fayetteville, Ark., June 25, 1945, age 82 years, 4 months 2 days. He was converted and baptized at a Methodist meeting, when a young man; afterwards the Methodist Church ceased to hold meetings at Witter, Ark. near his old home, he, then, joined to The Christian Union Church and remained a member to this Church.

Funeral arrangements were in charge of the Watson Funeral Home, with services conducted by Chas. L. McElhaney. Burial in the Witter Cemetery. Pallbearers were; Virgil and Orville Moore, Orville Davis, John McElhaney, and Andrew McFee. Surviving him are four children, viz; Mrs. Mary Moore, Mrs. Ella Burgess, Mrs. Lieuvina Shaw and Sidney (Sid) Keck. All were present at the funeral; also one brother, Dave Keck and two sisters, Mrs. Janie Frederick and Carie Wilson; 19 grandchildren and a large number of great grandchildren.

Obituaries

Sidney F. Keck

Sidney F. Keck, 83, 1808 Dee St., Springdale, died Sept. 1 in Springdale Memorial Hospital. Born July 31, 1893, at Witter, he was the son of Major and Jan Reeves Keck, and was a retired blacksmith and truck driver.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Erma Hooper Keck of the home; one son, Vernard Keck, King City, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Preston (Reba) Sanders, Springdale; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Sisco Chapel. Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. in Witter Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Sisco.
