Father of 17 Passed Away Monday, Jan. 31

Thomas Franklin David Reynolds, age 64, passed away Monday, Jan. 31, at his home in the Reynolds community east of Wharton. He had been ill several months and his death was due to a stroke suffered a few days ago.

Mr. Reynolds had lived all his life in the community which derived its name from his family, having been born there on Jan. 30, 1885. He had been a member of the Baptist Church for 27 years. He was the father of 17 children, 16 of whom survive. One boy, Loy, passed away in 1935.

The deceased was first married to Mead Keck in 1900. To them were born three children. His first wife passed away in 1908 and in 1910 he was married to Viola Emaline Burgess, who survives. To them were born 14 children.

Besides his widow, survivors include eight sons, Melvin, of Kingston, and Dewey, Tommie, Franklin, Lee Troy, Roy, Wesley and Junior, all of the home; eight daughters, Mrs. Bert Harper of Clarksville, Mrs. Claud Stout of Kingston, Mrs. John L. Carter, Mrs. Melvin Davis, Mrs. H. H. Maggard and Mrs. Charlie Carpenter, all of Huntsville; Mrs. Arnold Coble of Aurora; and Viola of the home, 52 grand children and 4 great grand children; a sister, Mrs. Lennie Harris of Oklahoma.

Graveside services were held at 12:30 p.m. Feb. 2, by Rev. Cecil Garrison of Huntsville. Burial was in Kingston cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home here.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 7, at the Hardwicke Chapel in Clarksville for Mrs. Elva Sara Marple, 50, of Clarksville, who died Tuesday, Feb. 4, in a Booneville hospital. The Rev. W.R. Kelton officiated. Burial was at the Carter Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband Bert; a son, Eugene Faubus of Ozark; a brother, Melvin Reynolds of Modesto, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Elsie Stout of Springdale; seven half-brothers, Tommy, Lee, Dewey, Wesley, Franklin and Ray Reynolds, all of Huntsville, and Junior Reynolds of Polo, Ill.; six half-sisters, Mrs. Fannie Carter, Mrs. Sylvia Davis, Mrs. Florence Bryant and Mrs. Goldie Carpenter, all of Huntsville, and Mrs. Sara Cable and Mrs. Viola Johnson of Washington; her stepmother, Mrs. Viola Reynolds of Huntsville; and one grandchild.

Funeral services for Mrs. Elsie Stout, 66, 1024 Brogdon, who died July 6 in Springdale Memorial Hospital, were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock in Sisco chapel with Rev. Cecil Garrison officiating.

Pallbearers were James Thompson, Jimmy Thompson, Carlos Joe Sturdy, Randy Stout, Calvin Stout and Jimmy Williams.

Burial was in the Friendship cemetery under the direction of Sisco Funeral Chapel.

A native of Witter, she was born Nov. 11, 1906, the daughter of Thomas F. and Amelia Keck Reynolds, was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church at Kingston, and a resident of Springdale since 1950 moving from Kingston.

Survivors include her husband, Claude J. Stout of the home; three sons, Bud Stout of Fayetteville, James V. Stout of Rogers and Jerry Stout of Green Forest; one daughter, Mrs. Crawford (Gwendolyn) Thompson of Springdale; her stepmother, Mrs. Viola Reynolds of Huntsville; one brother, Melvin Reynolds of Modesto, Calif; seven step-brothers, Dewey Reynolds of Huntsville, Tommy of Highfill, Franklin of Berryville, Wesley of Hindsville, Lee Troy of Springdale, Roy of Huntsville and Junior Reynolds of Illinois; six half-sisters, Mrs. Fannie Carter and Mrs. Goldie Carpenter of Huntsville, Mrs. Sylvia Davis of Lowell, Mrs. Fawn Bryant of Witter, Mrs. Sara Jane Coble of Antioch, Wash., and Mrs. Viola Johnson of Springdale; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Franklin Reynolds, 61, of Huntsville died Oct. 11 at Huntsville Memorial Hospital. He was born July 1, 1921, in Madison County, the son of Thomas F. and Viola Burgess Reynolds.

Survivors include two sons, Johnny Reynolds of Huntsville and Franklin D. Reynolds of Wesley; two daughters, Janice Wright of Huntsville and Linda Reynolds of Rogers; his mother of Huntsville; five brothers, Dewey and Roy Reynolds of Huntsville, Tommy Reynolds of Gentry, Wesley Reynolds of Hindsville, and Junior Reynolds of St. Paul; one half brother, Melvin Reynolds of California; six sisters, Fannie Carter and Goldie Carpenter of Huntsville, Sylvia Davis of Lowell, Fawn Bryant of Witter, Sarah Jane Coble of Yakima, Wash., and Viola Johnson of Springdale; eight grandchildren.

Viola Reynolds, 92, of Huntsville died Oct. 6 at Huntsville Memorial Hospital. She was born Jan. 15, 1893, at Whorton Creek, the daughter of Doc and Clarissa Jane Dotson Burgess. She was a Baptist. She was the widow of Thomas F. Reynolds, who died in 1949.

Survivors include five sons, Dewey Reynolds and Roy Reynolds of Huntsville, Tommy Reynolds of Gentry, Wesley Reynolds of Hindsville, and Junior Reynolds of St. Paul; six daughters, Mrs. Fanny Carter and Mrs. Goldie Carpenter of Huntsville, Mrs. Sylvia Davis of Lowell, Mrs. Fawn Bryant of Witter, Mrs. Sarah Jane Coble of Yakima, Wash., and Mrs. Viola Johnson Yeager of Nashville, Ark.; one brother, Dewey Burgess of Tahlequah, Okla., and more than 100 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Springdale - Gloria Jean Bilderback, 50, of Springdale died Oct. 22, 2001, at her home. She was born Jan. 23, 1951, in Venus to Lewis Waldo and Viola Reynolds Johnson. She was a homemaker and a Pentecostal.

Survivors include her husband, Gene Bilderback of the home, two daughters and one son-in-law, Denise Elam and Steve of Springdale and Tonya Bilderback of Lowell; her mother of Huntsville; three brothers, Gary Johnson and Ronald Johnson, both of Springdale, and Jimmy Johnson of Witter; six grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Brashears Funeral Home in Huntsville with Rev. Jimmy Collins, the Rev. Layton Porter and the Rev. Porter Bryant officiating.

Burial will be in the Venus Cemetery.
