SHERMAN TREAT

Sherman Treat, 88, of Rogers died Monday, Nov. 8, 2004, in Rogers. He was born Sept. 5, 1916, in Big Flat to William Mason and Margie Barncscum Treat. He attended the Assembly of God and had served in the U.S. Army. He was a retired farmer.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Treat; two sons; 12 siblings; and one great-granddaughter.

Survivors include his wife, Opal Treat of the home; a son, Sherman Leon Treat of Gravette; three daughters, Patsy Goodman of Green Forrest, Johnnie Woods of Springdale and Carolyn Thompson of Fayetteville; five stepchildren, Melvin McDonald of Cave Springs, Thomas McDonald and Wanda Napier, both of Grove, Okla., Betty Hawkins of Bentonville and Becky Missildine of Clovis, N. M.; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Shawn Treat, Bill Treat, Patrick Woods, Mike Goodman, Tim Goodman and Michael Thompson.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Springdale with the Rev. Raymond Martin officiating.

Margie E. Reid, age 83, of Moro, formerly of Marshall, died at Stuttgart April 27. She was born February 14, 1893.

Survivors include two sons, Asburn Treat of Moro and Sherm Treat of Springdale and 24 grandchildren.

Services were conducted April 29 at Round Mountain Church. Burial was in Treat Cemetery under direction of Coffman Funeral Home, Inc., Marshall.


In the late 1970s, we went to Big Flat to visit Great-Grandma Lawrence. I think it may have been for her birthday.

Those are Great-Grandma Lawrence's roses in the photo. She loved those roses.

The jackets that Tammy and I are wearing are our Green Forest Tigers jackets that we got shortly after moving to Green Forest. So the photo had to be taken after we moved in 1978 and Mike looks to be about 3-5 years old so it must be around 1979.

Grandma and Grandpa Treat came to visit our home in the early 1980s. We lived at that time in Green Forest.

Pat and Linville and their kids also lived in Green Forest. One evening while Grandma and Grandpa were visiting, Pat's family came over to our house. We all had a good time during this visit.

William Benny Joe Treat, 63, of Farmington died Saturday, April 10, 2004, at his home.

He was born Feb. 10, 1941, in Big Flat, Ark., to Sherman and Ruth Lawrence Treat.

He worked at Standard Register for 25 years as a collator. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Treat; a brother, Clyde Treat; and a greatniece, Gabrielle Treat.

Survivors include a son, Billy and his wife, Sarah Treat of Fayetteville; two daughters, Kimberly Treat of the home and Cynthia Burnett and her husband, John of Springdale; father, Sherman and his wife, Opal Treat of Cave Springs; a brother, Leon and his wife Gerene Treat of Gravette; three sisters, Patsy Goodman and her husband, Lin of Green Forest, Johnnie Woods and her husband, Roy of Springdale and Carolyn Thompson and her husband, James of Fayetteville; a sister-in-law, Maxine Treat of Springdale; seven grandchildren, Chelsey, Alex, Jeffery, Ashley, Shelby Treat and Molly and Trey Burnett; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Beard’s Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Eastside Baptist Church with the Rev. James Goff officiating. Burial will be in Burks Shed Cemetery under the direction of Beard’s Funeral Chapel and Crematory in Fayetteville.

Opal McDonald Treat, 90, of Rogers, Ark., died Tuesday, June 24, 2008, in Rogers. She was born July 28, 1917, in Grady, N. M., to Seymour Henry Helsley and Estella Helsley. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Arvill Mc-Donald and Sherman Treat; and a sister, Veris Johnson. Survivors include two sons, Melvin McDonald of Rogers and Thomas McDonald of Grove, Okla.; three daughters, Betty Hakins of Bentonville, Ark., Beckey Missildine of Clovis, N. M., and Wanda Napier of Rogers; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 p. m. to 7 p. m. Friday, June 27, at the Benton County Funeral Home in downtown Rogers.

Funeral services will be at 10 a. m. Saturday, June 28, at the Benton County Funeral Home.

Burial will be at the Mount Hebron Cemetery west of Lowell, Ark.

Pallbearers will be James McDonald, Joshua McDonald, Jeffary Miller, Tray Edwards, Darrel Weaver and Erick Jones.
