Chess Stout

Chessley (Chess) Stout, 90, of Fayetteville died Aug. 27 at a Fayetteville hospital. He was born March 28, 1896, in Arnett, the son of Robert C. and Sarah Louis Carter Stout. He was a retired owner and operator of a sawmill, a former employee of Fullbright Wood Products, a Jehovah's Witness and a lifetime resident of the area.

Survivors include his wife, Lutishie Hutchens of Fayetteville; one son, Berl Stout of Brentwood; one daughter, Audrey Swonger of West Fork; one brother, Elmer Stout of Elkins; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Whitehouse Church with Oxford officiating. Burial will be in Whitehouse Cemetery under the direction of Moore's Chapel of Fayetteville.

Berl W. Stout

Brentwood - Berl Waymond Stout, 75, of Brentwood died Dec. 7, 1998, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born Oct. 25, 1923, in Brentwood to Chessley Franklin and Lutishie Hutchens Stout. He was owner of Stout's Grocery in Brentwood for 19 years and was a long-time farmer and logger. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, A. Ruth Drummond Stout of the home: three sons, Troy Berl Stout of Brentwood, Rufus Eugene Stout of Fayetteville and Waymond Ray Stout of Kansas City, Mo.; five daughters, Maxie Stout Cross of Farmington, Mary Lou Stout Neel of West Fork, Patsy Stout Quiniton of Prairie Grove, Loretta Stout Murray of Farmington and Deborah Stout Hughes of Brentwood; one sister, Audrey Stout Swonger of West Fork; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bidville Community Church with the Rev. Ernest Meadors officiating.

Burial will be in Bidville Cemetery under the direction of Moore's Chapel of Fayetteville.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Moore's.
