George T. Carter

George T. Carter, 87, died this morning at Drumright, Okla., where he had made his home for the past eight years. He was born in September of 1868 in Washington County, the son of Dan and Lucy Carter, and spent most of his life around Durham and Elkins. his wife, Martha, preceded him in death two years ago. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church, and road supervisor at Durham while he lived there.

Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. C.A. West, Pittsburg, Calif., Mrs. F.E. Bruce, Fayetteville, Mrs. M. A. Malone, Drumright, Okla., Mrs. H. R. Sheets, Fresno, Calif., Mrs. Mildred Ball, Fayetteville, and Mrs. Goldie Long, of Wichita, Kan.; three sons, Silas Carter, Chickasha, Okla., and George Carter, Jr., Sasakwa, Okla.; one brother, Will Carter, Venita, Okla.; 40 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at the McCord Community Church by the Rev. James Cheshire with burial in the McCord cemetery.
